Some of us are blessed with a beautiful voice. For a singer, It is a treasure. Whether you are a soprano, mezzo-soprano, alto, contralto, baritone, tenor or bass; your voice matters.

Don’t get panicked by these terms, its just types of voices categorized and used in the world of music. Personally, I have a slant for people with a deep voice and have fallen in love with voices even before seeing faces. I am sure many of you can relate to what I just said.

YouTube singer Patrick Michael, survives cut throat new media competition and is still recognized by music lovers; not only because he has got talent but also he has got an amazing voice. South Indians are familiar with your voice. Other music lovers across the globe would want to know you. So tell us a bit more about yourself.

I’m a very ordinary singer like any other YouTuber, whose songs got viral by making unplugged versions considering people’s interests. This is me.

Why do you sing?

I sing to discover who I want to be. I sing to transcend . I sing to feel. I sing to love.

You have an amazing voice, when have you realized it?

I don’t believe that I’ve an amazing voice. But whenever I sing, I try to express myself freely and try to do justice to the emotions hidden within the lyrics.

Are you a trained singer and if yes, for how many years?

I ain’t a trained singer. However, I used to participate in school level competitions and some reality shows, which brought out the best in me. I met many super talented judges who helped me a lot to improve myself.

Which is your favourite song and why?

It will be hard to figure out a particular favourite song of mine. I love almost all melodies, especially the romantic ones.

How many cover songs have you done in total and which one got the maximum response?

A total of 49 covers. It was “Kanneer poovinte” which turned it all over. (*Kanneer poovinte is a Malayalam movie song originally sung by M.G. Sreekumar.

What are the awards and accolades you received till date?

I must say, I haven’t made any remark up yet.

All I have is some music lovers as my followers. And that will always be a big achievement as I ain’t a trained singer.

What are your future goals?

I would say the reason behind my singing is the pain within me. So I don’t tie music to any particular goal. I will keep making covers considering no goals ahead.

To me, singing is the most natural thing in the world. I’ve grown up with it and I know I’ve got that gift. Those who wish to sing always find a song.

When a singer truly feels and experiences what the music is all about, the words will automatically ring true.
